Papa

Coach Tyler Papa graduated from Texas State University in 2017. His days are usually spent just next door at Four Points, where he teaches 6th grade and coaches boys athletics. Coach Papa was also a wrestler back in high school at Vista Ridge (we forgive him for that). In 2026, he began helping out with Viper Wrestling as an additional coach in the corner at tournaments and occasionally as the team bus driver! He is excited to be part of the Viper Wrestling family and looks forward to helping the team have another great season.

After beginning his coaching career, he spent three seasons at Texas A&M–Kingsville from 2015–2017, serving as a graduate assistant while working with the running backs and secondary. He then joined the staff at the University of Minnesota Morris in 2017–2018 as Co-Defensive Coordinator, overseeing the secondary. From 2018–2019, he coached cornerbacks at Montana Tech before returning to Texas, where he spent the spring of 2019 at Southwestern University in Georgetown coaching the safeties. He continued his collegiate coaching career at Howard Payne University from 2019–2020, working with the offensive line and running backs.

In 2021, Coach Allen returned to Luling High School, coaching the running backs and rovers from 2021–2022. He then joined the Manor High School football staff, serving as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator while coaching the cornerbacks from 2022–2025. Most recently, he served at Del Valle High School from 2025–2026 as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator, working with the safeties. With extensive experience at both the collegiate and high school levels, Coach Allen looks forward to bringing his diverse coaching background to the wrestling mat as he joins the Vandegrift Wrestling staff.
